Happy Opening Day! Sox Win 6-5

Today marked the start of the 2008 MLB Regular season and boy what an exciting one it was. The Red Sox played the Oakland A’s over in Tokyo and won 6-5 in 10 innings on the back of a Brandon Moss game-tying homer and a Manny Ramirez game winning two-run double.

Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched 5 innings, with 5 walks, 2 hits and 6 strikeouts. After a wild first inning, he settled in and was strong through 5. Kyle Snyder gave up a two-run homer in the 6th and then the bullpen pitched shutout ball until Papelbon came into the game in 10th. He walked the leadoff hitter, gave up 3 hits and a run with 1 strikeout in picking up the save.

A strong team performance resulted in a big win for the Sox coming from behind and Jon Lester takes the hill tomorrow in another 6AM EST start.

1 down, 161 to go before the playoffs!
